Support Mom Businesses

Since I have opened my sewing patterns business, Livi Stitches Patterns, I have had the opportunity to talk to alot of small business owners. Most of the people I speak with are Moms. These Moms are opening up small businesses in their home in an attempt to help financially support their families. I love to support these women who work so hard. For this reason I am giving you all the opportunity to share your business on my blog.

If you don't have a small business I hope you will shop and support these small businesses !!! And definetely tell them that you discovered their site through Livi Stitches Blog :)

If you sell something please link up your site below. Please only one link per business.

Avery Lounge Pants Pattern

Livi Stitches Patterns has a new pattern available.
It is the Avery Lounge Pants Pattern.

I am really excited to be adding this pattern to my collection. It is a very versatile pattern. It can be used for girls or boys and can be used to make boutique style pants or casual pajama pants.

The Avery Lounge Pants Pattern is a very simple pattern. This pattern would be a great place for beginners to start.

The Avery Lounge Pants Pattern is available for sale at Livi Stitches Patterns on Etsy.

Sewing Basics- Embroidery Machines

I thought I'd add a post to the Sewing Basics Series and talk about Embroidery Machines.
I live in the south and we personalized EVERYTHING, especially stuff for our children. When I learned to sew I knew I wanted to be able to personalize the clothing I made.
My first embroidery machine was a sewing/embroidery machine combo, a Singer Futura CE150. It has all the basic features I need for a sewing machine and the ability to do embroidery. It took me a little while to get used to it but now I just love it. I have since upgrade to a more advanced embroidery machine but I still use this machine for all of my sewing.
When I was running my children's sewing business and sewing daily I realized that the Singer machines embroidery option just could not keep up with the hours I was putting on it so I invested in an embroidery only machine. I got a Brother PE770. This machine has more upgrades and runs a little faster than my Singer. I absolutely love it. But I will say if you are only planning on sewing as a hobby a sewing/embroidery combo machine is all you need.

Taking back the house

Anyone else feel like their home has been taken over by the effects of Christmas? I know I do. Our house has looked like a toy store blew up in it since 7:30 A.M. on December 25th. For the first few days I thought it was fun to let the girls just enjoy their presents, after that it got to the point of "I just don't want to deal with finding a place for it", now I just can't take it anymore and have declared war with the toys. I'm taking back my house.
Tonight we are cleaning, sorting and finding a home for everything. My 5 year old has a hard time parting with toys so I have been pleasantly surprised that she has actually put somethings into the donate and pass it on to my little sister piles I create for her. However I have been overwhelmed with all the little Happy Meal/ under $5 toys that we have and how attached she is to each and every one of them.

Firecrackers- My Favorite Snack

Fire Cracker Recipe
1 Box of Saltine Crackers
1 Cup of Canola Oil
1 Package of Ranch Dip Mix
1 Tablespoon of Crushed Red Pepper

Put canola oil, ranch dip mix, and crushed red pepper into bowl and mix it up. Put crackers into a large container with a lid, pour mixture over crackers. Put lid on container. Flip container back and forth until crackers are well coated. Let crackers sit for a 5 hours, occasionally flipping container though out this time period. Enjoy!
